The Meath Arms B&B and Grainstore Restaurant is nestled in the heart of stunning Wicklow. Still basking in the glory of being awarded Ireland's tidiest town in 2007 and the county winner in 2008, The Meath Arms offers accommodation in a beautiful Country Inn with a long tradition of hospitality. Established in 1728 the business is today still owned and run by the Phelan family. Recently refurbished it offers superb accommodation with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The Inn is located in the centre of Aughrim Village, which was the overall winner in the national Tidy Towns competition in 2007. The Meath Arms B&B is a great destination for anyone interested in golf, fishing, hill walking, or as a perfect base for touring the garden of Ireland. Taxi and luggage transfer available for walkers.
"That little spot in Wicklow where the air breathes sweet content." - 'To Aughrim' a poem by Desmond L. Morley
We just love staying here. The Inn is situated in a village nestled in the Wicklow mountains.Easy reach of all the attractions in the area. You get a wonderful welcome .The breakfasts can not be faulted.Freash fruit ,cereals ,fruit compote with honey yogurt and of course choice of full Irish cooked breakfast.Be sure to ask Paddy for his special poached egg!The grain Store restaurant attached is worth a visit too .Overall ,AClean and lovely place to stay.
A lovely Inn and the nicest staff. Paul picked us up in Iron Bridge after a long day of hiking the Wicklow Way. He also gave us a ride to the train depot the next morning. He was very kind. Our dinner at the Grainstore was the best we had in our entire time in Ireland. Simply delicious! Our only complaint is that the room we were given was directly above the Pub on a Friday evening. We were kept awake until 15:00 with music, noise and the smell of smoke. It seemed we were the only people staying at the Inn so not sure why he gave us this room. Other than that we would definitely visit again - we would just request a different room.
Really enjoyes my stay once again at the meath arms i travel here 3 times a year for birthdays. I have family in.aughrim and still stay at the b&b lovely rooms. Exceptional staff and people in the pub are soo lovely. Rooms are beautiful and spaceous.
